Open Air Activities in Granada

Granada is a province that offers a great variety of open-air activities, which are either free or very cheap to enjoy. The beautiful natural surroundings of the town, lying on the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, makes it a paradise for people who like trekking, rock climbing, mountain biking and for nature lovers in general. Apart from the mountains the many beaches all over Costa del Sol are lying just 1 hour away from Granada town.

Granada also has a lot of nice parks and gardens where people can relax in the open air. In Granada town you can find the Botanical Gardens located on the University Square (Plaza de la Universidad). Outside Granada town are located the big natural parks Sierra Nevada and Sierra de Baza where you can go for a picnic or just enjoy the natural surroundings.

For people interested in doing a nice bargain there is the street/ flea market 'Mercadillo Dominical' located the Western part of Granada near the central Post office and the Casino Granada. This major street market is open every Sunday from 9.00-15.00. There you can buy everything from clothes and shoes, to paintings, old furniture or electronics and it is also a popular area to have lunch on Sundays.
